The toddler years are full of change. Mini Masterminds offers the best childcare for toddlers in these critical years.
During the toddler years, children are learning to communicate, express emotions, test independence and understand the world around them. Choosing the right daycare for toddlers plays an important role in supporting this growth.
At Mini Masterminds, our toddler program supports children from around two to three years old. This stage of early childhood is marked by curiosity, movement and growing confidence. Our approach provides structure, warmth and learning experiences that help toddlers feel secure while exploring new skills.
For many parents, this is the stage where care becomes more social, more active and more focused on learning through play.
Toddler care looks very different from baby care. Children at this age want to move, talk, choose and participate. They are beginning to understand routines and enjoy being part of a group.
Our approach to childcare for toddlers recognises these changes. Educators support children as they learn to communicate needs, manage emotions and engage with others. Clear routines help toddlers understand what comes next in their day, which supports confidence and emotional security.
For children approaching three, day care for 3 year olds also begins to introduce early learning foundations that prepare them for preschool.
Toddler learning spaces are designed to encourage movement, choice and exploration. Children can move freely between areas set up for creative play, building, reading, role play and group experiences.
Furniture and materials are child sized, helping toddlers feel capable and confident as they explore independently. Open floor spaces support physical development, while quieter areas provide space to reset or enjoy calm activities.
Outdoor play is an essential part of the day. Toddlers benefit from climbing, running and exploring in a safe and supervised environment that supports coordination and strength.
Toddlers are learning to do things for themselves. This includes feeding, washing hands, packing away toys and choosing activities.
Our educators support independence by offering guidance rather than doing things for children. Simple choices are built into the day, helping toddlers feel involved and capable.
This approach builds confidence and reduces frustration. Over time, children begin to take pride in what they can do independently, which supports both emotional and social development.
Language grows rapidly during the toddler stage. Children move from single words to phrases, sentences and early conversations.
Our toddler program supports communication through daily interactions, songs, stories and play. Educators model language, ask open ended questions and take time to listen and respond.
Group experiences also support language development, as toddlers hear new words, learn to take turns speaking and begin to express ideas more clearly.
Strong language foundations are especially important for children moving into daycare for 3 year olds, where communication supports participation in group learning.
Toddlers are learning how to be with others. Sharing, turn taking and cooperation take time and practice.
Educators support social learning by guiding interactions, helping toddlers express feelings and modelling respectful behaviour. When challenges arise, children are supported calmly and consistently.
Through everyday play and group experiences, toddlers learn how to build early friendships and understand others’ emotions.
Play is how toddlers learn best. Through play, children explore ideas, test skills and make sense of their world.
Our toddler program includes a wide range of play based learning experiences such as:
These activities support cognitive development while allowing children to learn at their own pace.
Big feelings are a normal part of toddler development. Children are still learning how to manage frustration, excitement and disappointment.
Educators provide consistent emotional support, helping toddlers name feelings and learn appropriate ways to express them. Clear expectations and calm guidance help children feel safe and understood.
Strong relationships between educators and children are central to emotional development during this stage.
Toddlers are active and curious, which makes safety and supervision essential.
Our environments are designed with age appropriate equipment, secure play areas and clear sightlines for supervision. Educators hold current first aid and child protection training and follow strict safety procedures throughout the day.

Parents value knowing how their child’s day has gone.
Through our secure communication app, families receive updates about learning experiences, routines and key moments from the day. Photos and short notes help parents feel informed and reassured.
Educators are also available for conversations about development, behaviour and milestones.
For children approaching three years of age, toddler daycare begins to bridge the gap toward preschool.
Listening skills, group participation, independence and early problem solving are gently supported. These experiences help children feel confident as they move into daycare for 3 year olds and then into preschool programs.
The transition is gradual and supportive, allowing children to progress at a pace that suits them.
Choosing child care for toddlers is about finding an environment where children feel happy, safe and supported.
Mini Masterminds offers toddler programs across multiple locations, all guided by the same commitment to quality care, safety and meaningful early learning.
Families are welcome to visit a centre, meet educators and see the toddler program in action.
At Mini Masterminds Sydney, our Toddler program (also known as toddler daycare) supports children from around 18 months to 3 years of age, the stage when children are rapidly developing language, mobility, independence and social skills. Rather than being tied to a strict birthday, children typically transition into the Toddler room when they are walking confidently and ready for a more active daycare routine. Every child reaches this milestone in their own time, and we work closely with families to make the transition feel natural and well supported.
Our toddler daycare program is built on the Early Years Learning Framework and focuses on language and communication, fine and gross motor development, self help skills such as self feeding and beginning toileting, social play, and emotional regulation. All Toddler room educators hold qualifications in early childhood education, and the room operates within the educator to child ratios set by the National Quality Standard.
Mini Masterminds Toddler rooms maintain an educator to toddler ratio of 1:5 for children aged 24 to 36 months, in line with the National Quality Standard and NSW regulations. For younger toddlers in the 18 to 24 month transition group, we maintain a higher ratio of 1:4 to reflect their additional needs. At many of our Sydney childcare centres we go beyond the regulatory minimums, with more Toddler educators in the room to allow for greater individual attention.
All Mini Masterminds Toddler educators hold a Certificate III, Diploma or Bachelor of Education in early childhood education, and are current in first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis management and child protection training. They also receive ongoing professional development specific to toddler development and behaviour.
Toddlers thrive on predictability, and the daily rhythm at Mini Masterminds toddler daycare is designed with that in mind. A typical day at our Sydney toddler daycare flows through morning arrival and settling in, breakfast, an indoor learning block (sensory play, art, music and story time), morning tea, outdoor play in our purpose built outdoor learning environment, lunch, rest or quiet time, an afternoon learning block of cooking, language, movement and dramatic play, afternoon tea, more outdoor play, and a late snack before pick up.
The toddler daycare routine is structured enough that toddlers feel secure and know what’s coming next, but flexible enough for educators to extend a learning experience or adjust the pace when a moment calls for it. Every day is planned to the Early Years Learning Framework and shared with you each morning through our secure parent app, so you always know what your child’s daycare day holds before you even drop them off.
At Mini Masterminds toddler daycare, we approach challenging behaviour as communication rather than misbehaviour, because toddlers are still developing the language and emotional regulation skills needed to express big feelings, and behaviour is often the only tool they have.
Our Toddler educators use evidence based positive guidance strategies at daycare: getting down to the child’s eye level, naming the feeling (“you’re feeling frustrated”), offering choices rather than commands, redirecting to a calming activity, and holding consistent, gentle boundaries. We never use timeouts or shame based discipline.
Where a specific behaviour pattern is emerging, educators document their observations and share them with families through our secure parent app, opening a conversation so we can work together on a consistent approach at home and at our Mini Masterminds Sydney childcare centre. Our toddler educators hold qualifications in early childhood education with training in social and emotional development.
Toilet training at Mini Masterminds toddler daycare is a partnership between families and educators, led by your child’s readiness rather than a calendar date. When your toddler starts showing signs (an interest in the toilet, staying dry for longer periods, or letting you know when they need to go), we work with you to establish a consistent approach across home and daycare so your child gets the same gentle encouragement wherever they are.
Our Mini Masterminds Toddler educators support toileting throughout the daycare day, log every successful trip in our secure parent app, and handle all accidents calmly and without fuss. We provide spare clothes and continue to supply Huggies nappies for as long as your child needs them, there is no pressure to rush the process.
Most toddlers complete toilet training somewhere between 2 and 3.5 years, but every child finds their own pace, and we follow their lead every step of the way.
Families may be eligible for Child Care Subsidy support depending on their circumstances.
Yes, the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) applies to toddler care and toddler daycare for children aged 18 months to 3 years at any approved early learning service in Australia, including all Mini Masterminds Sydney childcare centres. The amount your family receives depends on your household income, activity level (work, study, training or volunteering), and the number of children you have in your care. For most families, the CCS significantly reduces the daily cost of toddler daycare.
From 5 January 2026, eligible families can also access the 3 Day Childcare Guarantee, which ensures a minimum of 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight (around three days per week), providing greater certainty around the weekly cost of toddler care.
Use our Subsidy Estimator to calculate your estimated out of pocket cost for our Mini Masterminds Toddler program, or contact Services Australia to confirm your CCS eligibility before your start date.
Staying connected to your toddler’s day at daycare is easy through our secure parent communication app. Throughout the day you’ll receive real time photos, observations of new skills and social moments (first words, new friendships, independent toileting milestones), along with meal and sleep logs so you always have a clear picture of how your child is going at our Sydney toddler daycare.
Our Mini Masterminds parent app also lets you message your educators directly, which is particularly useful during the toddler years when routines at home and at daycare (toilet training, nap schedules, eating habits) consistently change and benefit from a consistent approach. The daily toddler program is shared each day through the app, so you can talk with your toddler about what they did at care and keep that connection going at home.
As an enrolled Mini Masterminds family, you’ll also receive complimentary access to the Happy Families parenting platform, with expert guidance on toddler development, behaviour and routines to support you beyond the centre.
